The Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas, Minister of International Trade, Industry and Commerce and Consumer Affairs, head the delegation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, arrived in Georgetown to participate in the 58th Regular Meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED). The event, hosted by the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), brings together trade ministers from across the region to discuss critical economic matters.
Senator the Honorable Paula Gopee-Scoon, Minister of Trade and Industry of Trinidad and Tobago, chaired this significant gathering. The two-day meeting, which commenced on May 14, 2024, at the CARICOM Secretariat, aims to foster collaboration, strengthen regional trade ties, and address pressing trade-related challenges. Mr. Sean Lawrence, Director of Trade, accompanied the minister to this two-day meeting.
The St. Kitts and Nevis’ delegation engaged in discussions on various topics, including market access, trade facilitation, and regional integration. Their presence underscores St. Kitts and Nevis’ dedication to advancing economic cooperation within CARICOM. The Minister’s participation reflects the federation’s commitment to promoting fair trade practices, sustainable development, and economic resilience.
