Taipei, Taiwan, June 22, 2024 (SKNIS): Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, the Honourable Dr. Terrance Drew and his delegation visited MINIWIZ Co Ltd. in Taiwan on Monday, June 24, 2024, to explore possible areas of collaboration. MINIWIZ, renowned for turning waste into valuable recycled materials and creating their own building materials from softer, reusable substances, presented a compelling case for partnership with the twin-island Federation.

During the visit, Prime Minister Dr. Drew expressed St. Kitts and Nevis’ keen interest in having MINIWIZ undertake projects in housing, recycling and healthcare within the Federation. He highlighted the government’s intention to construct a smart hospital and emphasised how MINIWIZ products could significantly contribute to its development.

“Making your mark in the Caribbean will send a strong message,” stated Prime Minister Dr. Drew. “The smart hospital we are about to build in St. Kitts and Nevis will greatly benefit from MINIWIZ’s innovative products. Their practical approach and sustainable solutions are exactly what we need to construct a truly great hospital.”

Dr. Frank Laws, Special Envoy for Healthcare and a key member of the delegation, interacted with the MINIWIZ team to explore the possibility of erecting a catheterization laboratory (Cath lab) in St. Kitts and Nevis using MINIWIZ’s modular approach.

The discussions also touched on the cost implications and the ability of MINIWIZ’s materials to withstand hurricanes and earthquakes, ensuring that any developments would be resilient and sustainable. The response from MINIWIZ was overwhelmingly favourable, with the company expressing a strong interest in collaborating with the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

Prime Minister Dr. Drew further inquired about MINIWIZ’s operations outside Taiwan. He was informed that 70% of their work is conducted globally, indicating their extensive experience and capacity to manage international projects.

“Their involvement in St. Kitts and Nevis will not only benefit our nation but also serve as a model for other regions looking to adopt sustainable building practices,” he said.

The visit concluded with both parties opening the floor for further discussions, establishing a promising foundation for future collaboration.

According to MINIWIZ.com, the company was founded in March 2005 by architect Arthur Huang and structural engineer Jarvis Liu. MINIWIZ is a technology pioneer in addressing climate change by developing high-performance, durable building products from waste. They offer circular ESG upcycling solutions across the real estate value chain using their core technologies: LCA software, building systems, and upcycling machines. These technologies transform single-use plastics, metals, glass, fashion waste, and construction demolition waste into modular building products and medical-certified modular construction systems. With over 17 years of experience, covering more than 300,000 sqm and capturing 24 million kg of carbon, MINIWIZ helps partners achieve their ESG goals with market-competitive, scalable circular solutions.
