New York, New York, June 3, 2025- Permanent Representative of St. Kitts and Nevis to the United Nations H.E. Dr. Mutryce Williams, and Third Secretary Mrs. Lecia Phipps recently participated in several activities in commemoration of the Africa Dialogue Series 2025, which was held throughout the month of May at the United Nations and concluded with the High-Level Policy Dialogue on May 30, 2025.
The theme of the 2025 edition of the annual Africa Dialogue Series (ADS 2025) is “Justice for Africans and People of African Descent Through Reparations”.
According to H.E. Williams, “It was very important to ensure that St. Kitts and Nevis was represented at the Africa Dialogue Series 2025, not only because of our country’s historical ties to Africa that has shaped our civilization, but because our country, has a keen interest in deepening our relations with our African brothers and sisters at this time. Our esteemed Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew, recently led a delegation to Nigeria, and hailed his presence on African soil, as a pivotal moment in strengthening the ties between the Caribbean and African continent. Prime Minister Drew further shared that Africa holds immense potential for deepened partnerships which his government is eager to advance. Therefore, as Ambassador to the United Nations, I will be vigorously working to explore all key opportunities for engagement within my jurisdiction, in line with fulfilling the Prime Minister’s vision of expanding our relations with the African continent.”

The ADS 2025 was aimed at stimulating informed reflection on justice for Africans and people of African descent and encouraged meaningful dialogue on reparations. It provided a platform for partners and stakeholders to assess the effectiveness of current international strategies and frameworks concerning reparative justice for Africans and people of African descent, and advocate for policies to boost initiatives that enhance financial, environmental, economic, and social justice.
The Second Africa-CARICOM Summit is slated to take place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on September 7, 2025, and will aim to build on the outcomes of first Summit which was held virtually in 2021, as both regions seek to foster closer collaboration and strengthened ties, promoting south-south cooperation.
