Basseterre, St. Kitts, Wednesday, February 04, 2026: The Ministry of Education officially
signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of Ghana on Tuesday,
February 03.
The newly signed MOU is grounded in shared principles and acknowledges the deep historical
and cultural connections between St. Kitts and Nevis and Ghana. It seeks to deepen this
relationship through meaningful partnerships in education and development.
Through this collaboration, St. Kitts and Nevis reaffirms its commitment to promoting human
capital development, youth empowerment, and international cooperation in education, research,
and innovation. The partnership with the University of Ghana is expected to advance these goals
by fostering academic collaboration, joint research initiatives, youth-focused programmes, and
the exchange of knowledge and expertise.
The MOU was signed by the Minister of Education, Hon. Dr. Geoffrey Hanley. It was witnessed
by Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Mrs. Lisa-Romayne Pistana, and observed
by Ambassador Nerys Dockery, Secretary General of the National Commission for UNESCO,
which has been instrumental in the development of this initiative.
