The Charles E. Mills Secondary School retained its bragging rights as the top track and field school in the Federation, as the “Eagles” soared to a comprehensive victory over the weekend at the TDC sponsored Interschool Championships at the Kim Collins Athletic Stadium.

CEMSS, which is also the winningest school in the 42 year history of the championships, amassed a total of 62 medals which include 27 gold, 16 silver and 19 bronze. The school dominated the three-day competition from day one, leading the field of secondary and tertiary level institutions in gold medals at the end each day’s events.

Finishing in second place for another year was the Washington Archibald High School (WAHS) which gained 16 gold, 12 silver and 22 bronze for a total of 50 medals.

Charlestown Secondary School (CSS), which was supported by a large contingent of track and field fans from Nevis, continues to show improvement on an annual basis in athletes’ performances. CSS finished in place for a second consecutive year but has noticeably improved upon its gold medal haul.

Also showing a significant improvement over their 2017 performance was the Basseterre High School (BHS). After gaining just seven gold medals last year, BHS raked in 12 gold medals over the weekend.

Public Relations Officer of the St. Kitts and Nevis Amateur Athletic Association (SKNAAA), Mr. Kilony Johnson said, “By all indications, including fan turnout, athletes’ performances and crowd participation, the 42nd TDC sponsored Interschool Championships was a resounding success. Over three days, we witnessed exhilarating performances from the top young athletes in the St. Kitts and Nevis.”

“I of course would like to single out the athletes of the Charles E. Mills Secondary School for their dominance, as they completed their quest for a historic five-peat. I would also like to commend all the other participating athletes for their efforts which helped to make this year’s competition the success that it was,” Mr. Johnson added.

After amassing a total of 48 points, Ayasmir Dolphin of the Immaculate Conception Catholic School was named Victrix Ludorum of the 2018 Interschool Championships.

Ajani Mills of the Verchild’s High School (VHS) was presented the honour of Victor Lodurum. He gained a total of 42 points over the three-day competition.
