“I wholeheartedly agree that tourism development should not just be about short term gains. We must also ensure long term sustainable development,” the president said.

She went on to address the cooperative efforts to create a park saying, “This particular cooperation project is a true reflection of the UN Sustainable Developmental Goals; it is friendly to the environment, involves the local community, boasts a sustainable design and pools resources from all sectors.”

President Tsai also expressed how much an honor it was to be within the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. She stated that both the Republic of China (Taiwan) and St. Kitts and Nevis can use this opportunity to exchange experiences in tourism development.

She also made mention of the art which will be displayed at the park, saying that “the park [will] feature mosaic mural made from children of Taiwan and St. Kitts and Nevis.” This art she says, “Will serve as a monument to the deep friendship between our two countries.”

President Tsai also stated that she brought along representatives from Taiwan’s tourism sector to mark this special occasion and explore commercial ventures. She ended by saying that she will look forward to even further cooperation and even more tourism exchanges in the future.
