Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 20, 2019 (SKNIS): As the second cruise pier project nears its completion date, the local companies which assisted in its progress have benefited greatly.

Minister of Public infrastructure, Honourable Ian Patches Liburd, commended the local companies such as TDC limited and St. Kitts Masonry Products, “For coming on board and really delivering.”

The minister made that statement during his media address and tour of the construction of the second cruise pier project at Porte Zante on August 19.

According to Honourable Liburd, “All equipment … is owned by St. Kitts Masonry Products and [they] are expected to provide some 9,000 cubic yards of concrete.”

He went on to say that “1000 tons of steel will be procured through TDC as well.”

Supporting local, which is and always has been a major part of the Government’s agenda is realized through the construction of the second cruise pier project as major materials and workers for the construction of the pier are sourced locally.

The second cruise pier is now 90 percent complete and is expected to be completed on September 23, 2019, according to Mr. Liburd.
