The GOSKN is seeking to contract a Consultant to work with ELEVATE trainers and assist the Project Coordinator in coordinating and monitoring the implementation of manuals/modules of ELEVATE. The main objective of this consultancy is the development of TOT (Training of Trainers) manuals and participants’ workbooks for the Life Skills Courses facilitated under the programme ELEVATE.

  • Undertake desk research and analyze all existing training materials used for the facilitation of Life Skills courses currently being used in other programmes being conducted in SKN.
  • Where necessary, the desk review may be supplemented by interviews with key stakeholders facilitating and providing life skills training to participants.
  • Brief the Client on the extent to which the manual and workbooks to be developed on this assignment will differ from existing material.
  • Develop TOT manuals and participant workbooks for Career Coaching and Financial Literacy training sessions in accordance with the training objectives of the ALPP Programme.

The manuals should cover the following:

Career Coaching

  • Intrapersonal Relationship Skills: Knowing yourself; self-esteem and self-improvement; values
  • Clarification and moral reasoning; goal setting; time management; nutrition and self-care; fitness; stress
  • Management; substance abuse; national pride; conflict resolution skills, cooperating/working as a team member.
  • Interpersonal Relationship Skills: Parenting; Gender and Relationships; Human sexuality, Sexual health and sexual exploitation, reproductive health; Citizenship and Community; leadership.
  • Communication Skills: Process, Forms, Facilitators, and challenges; Effective listening skills; creating and maintaining Harmonious Relationships; Effective spoken and written communication skills in the workplace – applying for jobs (writing applications, CVs, cover letters, thank you letters); interviewing; workplace behaviours and attitudes; balancing work and home life. 

The Consultant’s scope of work is as follows:

  • Financial Literacy, Saving, Investment vs Expenditure. The importance of savings practices, saving to buy (what is the real cost of a hire purchase item), a purchase vs an investment. What does a loan cost?
  • Are you an entrepreneur? Use of the Personal Entrepreneurship Characteristics (PECs).
  • Looking at the 10 characteristics – Opportunity Seeking and Initiative; Persistence; Fulfilling Commitments; Demand for Efficiency and Quality; Taking Calculated Risks; Goal Setting; Information.
  • Seeking; Systematic Planning and Monitoring; Persuasive and Good Networking skills, Independence, andSelf-confidence.

Minimum Qualification and Experience:

  • A first degree in the social sciences, specifically, community/social development, sociology, or project management is preferred.
  • An associate degree in a relevant area will be considered.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in supporting projects with multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated Computer literacy –excel, word, PowerPoint and experience in
  • working with PC-based equipment.
  • Ability to present outputs that demonstrate experience in preparing reports.
  • Ability to work independently and reached for all cases.
  • Submission of an outline of the manuals
  • Submission of a total of two (2) TOT manuals along with accompanying participant workbooks Life

Skills Training Courses/Submission of an outline of the manuals:

  • Facilitation of one (1) training session on the use of the TOT manuals for Life Skills Trainers and a report on the outcome of said training.
  • One (1) TOT manual and supporting workbook should be developed for Career and Coaching; one (1) TOT manual and supporting workbook should be developed for Financial Literacy Training.
  • Submission of a total of two (2) TOT manuals along with accompanying participant workbooks LifeSkills Training Courses:
  • Facilitation of one (1) training session on the use of the TOT manuals for Life Skills Trainers and a report on the outcome of said training.
  • One (1) TOT manual and supporting workbook should be developed for Career and Coaching, and one (1) TOT manual and supporting workbook should be developed for Financial Literacy Training.
