Basseterre, St. Kitts, 14th October 2025 – The Government, through the Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoL&E), has been made aware of concerns that have arisen regarding a recently introduced tip-sharing policy at the Park Hyatt, St. Kitts.

In response, and acknowledging the importance of fairness, transparency, and respect for workers’ rights within the tourism industry, the Hon. Marsha T. Henderson, who also serves as the Minister of Tourism, immediately convened a multi-agency task force, led by MoL&E, to investigate the matter and work toward a resolution in the best interest of the affected workers.

The task force, which has been meeting over the past several weeks, includes representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, the Labour Department, the Attorney General’s Chambers, and the hotel’s management team, in consultation with the St. Kitts-Nevis Trades and Labour Union. Together, the group has been reviewing the policy in detail and engaging in constructive dialogue aimed at restoring balance, ensuring compliance, and safeguarding the rights of all employees.

Minister Henderson reaffirmed that her Ministry and the Government remain fully committed to protecting the welfare of hospitality workers, who are integral to the strength and reputation of the nation’s tourism product.

“The Government will not sit idly by while any policy threatens the fairness or livelihood of our workers,” Minister Henderson stated.

She continued, “As Minister of Tourism, I have acted decisively to ensure that all parties come to the table. Our goal is clear, to arrive at a fair, transparent, and sustainable resolution that protects our workers and upholds the integrity of our tourism industry.”

Minister Henderson added that the task force’s discussions have been frank and solutions-focused, with all stakeholders demonstrating a willingness to collaborate in good faith.

The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis will continue to monitor developments closely and will provide updates as the process moves forward.
