BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, FEBRUARY 12th, 2017 (PRESS SEC) — A wide cross-section of the community packed the Immaculate Conception Co-Cathedral to capacity today, Sunday, February 12th, 2017, to extend best wishes, congratulations and support to Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, his Cabinet Ministers and other members of the Government of National Unity, who this month are celebrating their second anniversary in office.

This morning’s 8:30am church service – being the first in a series of events to mark the second anniversary of the Team Unity administration – served to reinforce the Honourable Prime Minister’s oft-repeated message that everything begins with God.

“We start the week [of activities] today, as is the tradition, in giving worship to God,” Prime Minister Harris said this morning while addressing the congregation.

Dr. Harris added that, “Tonight [starting at 6:30pm], I want to invite all of you and your friends to the open grounds of Greenlands, where a celebrated gospel singer, Jonathan Nelson, will be there to bring us joy in music and in song, and some of the most celebrated artistes found on the island of Nevis and on the island of St. Kitts will also be there. Admission is absolutely free.”

When Prime Minister Harris was outlining the calendar of events for the rest of the week, he noted that, “On Friday [February 17th] around midday, we will be unveiling our program of achievements [in a commemorative magazine] from the Team Unity headquarters on Fort Street. You will see some 50-plus areas of activities that we have so far completed. For all of these, we give thanks, and I am reminded…that one of the songs that we sang…says great things happen when God mixes with us.”

Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris continued: “So we come [to church] today so that more great things can come to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis, and to magnify God…We proudly proclaim, not just publicly but in our Constitution, that we are a nation under God. Therefore, in everything we do, we want to acknowledge God…We come [to church] in humility, to acknowledge God’s greatness in the life of each and every Kittitian and Nevisian. We hope that through this particular interaction and worship this morning that all of us will find the courage and the grace to say ‘Thank God!’ and to count our blessings, and at the end of them say ‘To God be the glory!’”
