Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 08, 2017 (SKNIS)—On Friday, May 05, the formal meeting of the Cabinet took place under the chairmanship of Prime Minister, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris.

  • Cabinet discussed a number of matters including the Committee for the Prerogative of Mercy, the restructuring of the Sugar Investment Diversification Foundation (SIDF), and the regularization of the non-establishment workers in the public service.
  • The Cabinet congratulated the Ministry of Tourism on the berthing of the Harmony of the Seas at Port Zante, Basseterre.
  • Cabinet heard a presentation from a group of investors from London, England, and Hong Kong and advised that further study was required. As Cabinet was winding down, it came to the attention of the Cabinet that there had occurred a brazen daytime armed robbery at a business place on the C.A. Paul Southwell Industrial Park. In demonstrating the customary concern for safety and security issues in the country, the chair of the Cabinet immediately reached out to the Police High Command in order to be apprised of the facts surrounding the matter and requested a follow-up meeting with the Police High Command on Saturday evening, May 06.
