BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, May 18, 2017 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris has extended congratulations to the Government and people of the Republic of Paraguay on the occasion of that country’s 206th Anniversary of Independence.
Paraguay gained independence from Spain on May 15th, 1811.
In his congratulatory message to President Horacio Manuel Cartes Jara, Prime Minister Harris wrote:
“The Government and people of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis are pleased to celebrate with you on the achievement of this milestone and wishes the Government and the people of Paraguay continued success, unity and prosperity.
St. Kitts and Nevis applauds Paraguay’s advocacy for its improvement in reproductive health services, its promotion of family planning policies as well as its effective market segmentation, which will ultimately contribute to the prevention of risky and unplanned pregnancies, reduce maternal mortality in addition to, impeding the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.
We are bounded by common interests and values, hence; we welcome opportunities to collaborate not only at regional and multilateral levels but bilaterally. I strongly hope that St. Kitts and Nevis and Paraguay will develop the bonds of a good relationship, as our nations discover new avenues of cooperation and fulfill aspirations to the mutual benefit of our peoples.
Mr. President, in extending my sincere congratulations and best wishes to you and the people of the Republic of Paraguay, I renew to you the assurances of my highest consideration.”
