Athletics Associations of the OECS sub region meeting in London, England, UK, today agreed to continue working together for the development of the sport and to do so in tandem with their respective National Olympic Committees and Commonwealth Games Associations.
The members agreed to:
Continue to participate in the annual ANOECS Track and Field Championships and commit the attendance of the best athletes of each member federation.
Endorse the applications to the IAAF of Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica and St Vincent and the Grenadines for synthetic tracks.
Support the member federation of Antigua and Barbuda in its collaboration with the Antigua and Barbuda Olympic Association to favorably consider hosting the ANOCES Track and Field Championships in 2018.
Support Grenada as an athletics development centre for the sub region, utilizing the services of an international coaching panel
Participate in the annual development programme convened in Grenada in December of each year
Greater collaboration in respect of:
- Sharing annual calendars
- Sharing opportunities for the training of coaches on a sub regional basis
- Improved communication amongst member federations
- Marketing athletics in the OECS
- Data collection/stats
- Sharing information on best practices
- Promoting our athletes and their achievements not only at home but across the sub region
The member federations agreed to frequent meetings utilizing the available media options.
