His Excellency ABERLARDO HERNANDEZ FERRER, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Saint Kitts and Nevis today (Thursday) at Government House, St. Kitts presented his credentials to His Excellency The Governor-General Sir S W Tapley Seaton, GCMG, CVO, QC, JP.
His Excellency Ambassador Ferrer succeeds Ambassador Ruiz who paid a farewell call at Government House recently.
The new Cuban Ambassador’s earlier tour of duty was to the former Soviet Union, later Russia, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Democratic Republic of Laos.
He was accompanied by his wife with whom he has four (4) daughters.
His Excellency the Governor-General expressed appreciation to Cuba for its contribution over the past thirty-two (32) years of diplomatic relations with the Federation of One Hundred and Eighteen (118) scholarships to our nationals who have graduated and embarked upon careers that have positively impacted our society especially in education, health, agriculture and the private sector. There are currently forty-one (41) students presently pursuing studies in Cuba.
This academic year there are six (6) scholarships in the area of Medicine, Medical Specialties and Health Technologies.
The Ambassador thanked Saint Kitts and Nevis for its continuing support to Cuba in the international sphere and committed to do all that he can during his tour of duty to strengthen the bonds of friendship between our two countries and people.
