Have you created a thought-provoking feature on access to health services for people living with HIV/AIDS? Have you been producing interesting material onclimate change’s effects in the Caribbean?  Are your programmes about young people in the Caribbean great examples of responsible coverage of children?

If your radio, television, print or digital production has been published on a CBU member service between January and December 2017, it might be eligible for entry in the 2017 CBU Caribbean Broadcasting Awards.

The winners of CBA 2017 trophies and cash prizes of USD 500 will be announced at the 2017 Awards Ceremony in Kingston, Jamaica on August 14, 2018 during the 49th CBU Annual General Assembly, under the theme “Building Resilience to Climate Change: Business, Technology and Content Options for Caribbean Media.”

INNOVATIONS
For the first time this year’s awards include prizes for material published in print and on digital platforms and not just on traditional radio, television and cable services.

And Island Media, producers of the regional current affairs programme, “Time to Face the Facts” are sponsoring the inaugural “Golden Conch Shell Award”.  It will be awarded to the news person or news team who presented the most outstanding coverage of events or issues that had regional impact or significance for 2017.  Since nomination for this award is open to non-members, please see the separate entry form on the CBU website.

SPONSORS
The other 2017 award sponsors include UNICEF Eastern Caribbean Office, the Caribbean Vulnerable Communities Coalition, UNESCO Caribbean as well as the Public Media Alliance (formerly the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association).
