Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 27, 2018 (SKNIS): As the first day of the Inaugural Diaspora Conference at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort came to a close, the Governor-General’s Deputy, His Excellency, Mr. Michael Morton, and Mrs. Morton, welcomed attendees to Government House for a welcome reception and cultural extravaganza on June 26.
Nationals came out in their numbers to take part in an evening of various cultural performances by local artists and the honouring of the donors that contributed to make the conference possible.
Cultural performances included a live band, a local singing group, masquerades and a fashion display of local fashion wear.
The sponsors of the conference, who were divided into three categories, were recognized for their willing contributions at the evening’s proceedings.
Silver sponsors were Nagico Insurance, T-Loft Property Development Limited, Pavilion and Windsor University.
Gold Sponsors were the TDC Group of Companies, the Hamilton Trust Company, Kajola Kristada Ltd and Royal Limited.
Platinum sponsors were St. Kitts – Nevis and Anguilla National Bank, Golden Rock Development Co. Ltd, White Gate Development, Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis and Silver Reef.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kaye Bass, also expressed special thanks to Resident Ambassador of the Republic of China to St. Kitts and Nevis, George Gow-Wei Chiou, for the support his embassy gave to the Diaspora Conference.
“The Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) was also very instrumental in helping us to host this conference. On behalf of the government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we would wish to thank the ambassador very much for his sponsorship,” she said.
