The fair featured an open exhibition of strictly made in St. Kitts and Nevis items, including pieces of art and craft, textile, national wear, folklore costume, ladies’ accessories, batik, literature: books written by our local authors, magazines, brochures; health products, jams, jellies, non-wheat, plant-derived flour, dried fruits, fudges, CSR and coconut rum, wall hangings and a framed picture of historic Brimstone Hill.
The attendees expressed their satisfaction and delight with the range and quality of the items on display, and indeed, lauded and applauded the Embassy for hosting the event. Several Ambassadors voiced an intention to have their respective Embassies replicate the exercise, and encouraged the Embassy to display the items at other fora. Almost all of the dignitaries and locals alike communicated their interest in purchasing many of the items.
Attendees were invited to sign the Guest Book at the end of their visit, to document, in concise language, their assessment of the experience, and each adult was gifted a ‘St. Kitts, Follow Your Heart’ inscribed pen upon departure.
The Embassy expresses its profound gratitude to all who made the fair a success: the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, locals who made contributions/donations, the staff of the Embassy of St. Kitts and Nevis, participants, descendants and some of the St. Kitts and Nevis students in Havana.
The fair ran from 9:00 a.m. uninterrupted until 6:00 p.m. and it was hosted at the newly established premises of the Embassy in Miramar, Playa, Havana.
