A new year inspires renewed energy and excitement for what could happen. It’s a fresh start and the perfect time to reflect on the past and plan for the future. Whether it’s a goal to be financially prudent, spending more time with family, better business decisions, healthier choices, you name it; at this time of year, it’s a priority to start well.
We may already be a couple of weeks into January, but we are seizing this opportunity to share with you three important things you can do now to help secure your short and long-term benefits and solidify your relationship with Social Security from the start of the year.
1: Life Certificates; (for beneficiaries in receipt of long term pensions). A Life Certificate is a signed notarized statement that lets us know you are alive. It is important to submit your Life Certificates on time to avoid any delay in your receipt of benefits. For beneficiaries who reside overseas, kindly note that you may opt to receive your pensions monthly, quarterly or bi-annually as you’d like. However, we do encourage a quarterly submission being March 31st, June 30th, September 30th and December 31st of each year to cover the periods past. When submitting your Life Certificate, please note that the form must be completed and officially stamped and signed by one of the following: Notary Public, Justice of the Peace, Manager of a Bank, Medical Practitioner, Attorney-at-law, Senior Police Officer or a Minister of Religion. 2: Contribution Payments; Always check and to ensure that your contributions were paid by your Employer. Too often we come across cases where a claim was submitted for Sickness Benefit, Maternity Benefit, Funeral Grant or even Age Pension, only to find out that Social Security is not in a position to settle the claim in a timely fashion or in the worst-case scenario not at all because payments were not made on your behalf. The beginning of the year is an excellent time for you to visit any of our offices and make sure that payments on your behalf for 2018 were paid.
3: Update of Information; If you have made a change to your personal data, take the time to inform us. Employers and employees are required to submit accurate information to Social Security: such as your correct name, present address, occupation, exact wages, contact numbers and things of that nature. Having accurate personal data at Social Security allows us to process your claims without much hassle or delay. Use our Insured Person Status Update Form to update your information:https://bit.ly/2DdlUuo
Easy as 1 2 3!!! Let’s avoid unnecessary inconvenience and stay on the right path with Social Security in this promising year. Be prepared to provide your Social Security number whenever you contact us. Insured persons and employers alike, both have unique numbers by which they are identifiable at Social Security. This will make it easier for us to identify you and meet your needs.
Together, we can make a difference. Happy New Year and see you soon at Social Security. |
