Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 04, 2019 (SKNIS): Sheila Joseph, a national of the United States Virgin Islands (USVI), who grew up in Molineux, St. Kitts, fulfilled a promised she made years ago to give back to her adopted country.

On Wednesday (July 03, 2019), Ms. Joseph, who now resides in the USVI, donated personal care packages and medical supplies to the community-based Mary Charles Hospital in Molineux.

“I donated some walkers, canes, knee braces, diabetic machines, the microlets, and the slides for the walkers,” she stated, noting her appreciation for the staff based at the medical institution. Care kits with a number of toiletries were also presented for patients.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Delores Stapleton-Harris, thanked Ms. Joseph for the donation. She said that the mobility aids in particular, are especially useful given the challenges being experienced by some persons involved in accidents or ailments associated with chronic diseases and old age.

“We are grateful to have this donation. We thank Sheila and her family for … being community-minded in providing the Mary Charles Hospital with such a donation,” she said. “We wish this relationship to be long and very productive and we look forward to many more initiatives of this sort and we hope that many more persons would come onboard and partner with the Mary Charles Hospital as we serve our community and promote quality healthcare.”

The Mary Charles Hospital was officially rededicated in August 2016, following major renovations. In July 2018, the Dental Clinic was re-commissioned and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)/ambulatory services re-established.
