Friday, May 28, 2021 – George Town, Cayman Islands: The countdown is on for the Caribbean Water and Wastewater Association’s (CWWA) Annual Conference and Exhibition. This 2021 event, set to take place 3-8 October, is being organised by the Water Authority-Cayman with support from Cayman Water Company and the Department of Environmental Health of the Cayman Islands. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and travel restrictions, this year’s conference will be entirely virtual.
“We’re very pleased to be working with the Local Organising Committee (LOC) in the Cayman Islands to host this year’s conference”, comments CWWA Executive Director Wayne Williams. “The LOC has been hard at work to ensure the virtual conference offers exciting opportunities to all participants, no matter where they are in the world”, he adds.
“While we won’t be meeting in person, our virtual platform will still offer robust networking and opportunities to share ideas and expand knowledge,” explains Dr Gelia Frederick van-Genderen, Director of Water Authority-Cayman and the LOC Chairperson. “We are also looking forward to the opportunity to infuse the culture of the Cayman Islands throughout the conference”, she adds.
The theme for the conference is “Innovation and Smart Technologies: Building Resilience in the Water and Waste Industries”. It’s a theme that holds relevance for the region still dealing with the impacts of the pandemic and natural disasters.
This year’s conference brings the Caribbean together during challenging times. More than ever, this is the time to share stories and experiences on applied research, case studies, and lessons learnt in the water, wastewater and solid waste sector. Authors wishing to present a paper or a poster should submit an abstract by Monday, 31 May. All papers and posters will be published on the conference website.
Companies and organisations are invited to partner with the CWWA and the LOC by becoming sponsors and exhibitors for the event. There is a broad scope of sponsorship benefits at different price points, making it accessible to all organisations. The virtual conference platform offers several digital options to make meaningful connections to regional decision-makers in the Caribbean water and waste industries.
Future information about the conference, including submitting an abstract and becoming a sponsor or exhibitor, can be found on the CWWA website www.cwwa.net.
