Two (2) new Crime Scene Response units have been commissioned to the Crime Scene Unit of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF). In a brief ceremony on July 19th, 2023 at the Police Training Complex on St. Kitts, the vehicles were officially drafted into the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force’s (RSCNPF) fleet of law enforcement vehicles.

The two Ford Rangers pick-up trucks were purchased by the Federation from “RMA Automotive” in Taiwan. The vehicles’ retrofitting was designed by the Director of the Crime Scene Unit, Mrs. Latoya Lake-Marshall. With her guidance and direction, the company performed the upgrades, bringing the vehicles’ capabilities on par with the Federation’s crime scene investigation and forensic examination requirements. Since the vehicles’ arrival on May 26th, 2023, the staff of the Forensic and Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Units have undergone the training required to properly utilise, manoeuvre, and maintain the vehicles.

The crime scene mobile units are equipped with ample storage spaces, crime scene and general safety lighting equipment, and other various forensic examination equipment. Their commissioning marks the first step in the creation of a full St. Kitts-Nevis crime scene investigation fleet of vehicles as additional units are slated for purchase and assignment to other districts on St. Kitts and also Nevis. The establishment of a crime scene response home office for the RSCNPF is also in the planning stages.

The addition of these crime scene response units signifies the Government’s continued support of the Police Force’s overarching mandate to curb crime and maintain peace in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.
