DR. GEOFFREY HANELY APPLAUDS ESSAY WINNERS AND REITERATES EDUCATIONAL VISION FOR NATIONAL HISTORY CURRICULUM

Location: St. Kitts and Nevis

The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of Crop Extension Officer. This role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the agricultural sector of our nation and support the development of sustainable farming practices. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide expert guidance and support to local farmers in the cultivation, management, and protection of crops. 
  • Conduct field visits to assess crop health, identify pests and diseases, and recommend appropriate interventions. 
  • Develop and deliver educational programs, workshops, and demonstrations to farmers to enhance their knowledge and skills. 
  • Collaborate with agricultural stakeholders to promote the adoption of best practices and innovative techniques. 
  • Collect and analyze data on crop performance, market trends, and agricultural innovations to inform decision-making. 
  • Assist in the development and implementation of agricultural policies and initiatives aimed at enhancing crop production and food security. 

Requirements: 

  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in agriculture, with a proven track record of working in crop extension or related roles. 
  • At least an associate degree in agriculture, Crop Science, or a closely related field.
  • Strong knowledge of crop production techniques, pest and disease management, soil fertility, and sustainable agriculture practices. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders. 
  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team, with a proactive and results-oriented approach. 
  • Must have a manual driver’s license.
