The Human Resource Management Department on behalf of the Ministry of Public Infrastructure et al wishes to invite suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Plant Supervisor.
The Plant Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of a desalination plant, ensuring the efficient production of clean, potable water in compliance with regulatory standards and safety protocols. Your responsibilities will include supervising plant operators, coordinating maintenance activities, optimizing process efficiency, and managing resources to achieve production targets and operational goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervises the operation of the Desalination Plant.
- Develops instructions and procedures relating to the work carried out by personnel under their charge.
- Installs and maintains pumps, membranes, filters and pumping equipment.
- Plan, coordinate and prioritize routine maintenance schedules, tasks, inspections, and repairs to ensure equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and extend the lifespan of plant assets.
- Oversees the operation of desalination process equipment, monitoring process parameters, troubleshooting technical issues, and implementing corrective actions to maintain optimal performance and water quality.
- Maintains a stock and up-to-date inventory of spare parts and tools needed at the plant;
- Monitors the records of readings of meters, gauges, water quality testing, filters and reservoirs, materials and other pertinent information on all jobs;
- Monitors the logbook and all related records for plant operations kept by the Plant Operator.
- Monitors record of time worked by employees.
- Enforce safety policies and procedures, conduct safety meetings, and ensure that all personnel adhere to safety protocols and always use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Keeps records of expenditure on installation of desalination plant equipment and maintenance projects.
- Makes requisition for equipment, fittings and other materials required to perform maintenance functions and repairs.
- Checks and certifies pay-sheets and vouchers for personnel under his/her charge.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, equipment upgrades, and technology advancements to enhance plant performance, reliability, and sustainability, and collaborate with management to implement changes and innovations.
- Performs other related duties.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Associates’ Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Plumbing and Pipefitting from a Technical College
- Three (3) years of experience in the Water or Mechanical Industry
Salary: K28-K32 ($53,256 – $61,812) per annum
