BASSETERRE (14th February, 2017): The St. Kitts Tourism Authority and the Ministry of Tourism – in collaboration with taxi and tour operators – will today implement a new dispatching system to improve the guest experience and the operations of taxi and tour at Port Zante.

The new Kiosk Distributing System moves the dispatching of cruise ship passengers to the eastern corridor of Port Zante, where various types of tours have been placed in kiosks. This will allow visitors to easily identify and select from the offered excursions in the kiosks.

Minister of Tourism The Hon. Lindsay F.P. Grant said that St. Kitts has become a premier cruise ship destination, however it is still imperative that we keep working hard to deliver a world-class experience to our visitors.

“This system is intended to streamline the dispatching of visitors to taxi and tour operators,” Minister Grant said. “Not only does it improve the experience of our guests on Port Zante, but it also ensures that all of taxi and tour operators have an equal opportunity to do business.”

Minister Grant added that the new system resulted from several consultations with taxi and tour operators. Also, a special Transportation Committee representing the entire gamut of taxi and tour operators on Port Zante, assisted in creating the new Kiosk Distributing System.

“We will always welcome feedback from our partners and stakeholders to identify areas where we need to become more competitive,” Minister Grant. “Our ability to compete globally is heavily dependent on out ability to rejuvenate, reinvent, revitalize and refine our product offerings. It is critical that we continue to work together to keep our cruise sector growing, and that each of us consistently strive to provide a premier experience for our guests.”
