Basseterre, St. Kitts, January 15, 2019 (SKNIS): St. Kitts and Nevis will soon be home to a brand new state-of-the-art medical institute to be built at Christophe Harbour on the South-East Peninsula that will offer revolutionary services, making the Federation a prime spot for health and wellness tourism in 2020 and beyond. It will also boost the St. Kitts and Nevis real estate market.

The medical facility, which was approved by the Government, will significantly expand accessibility to quality healthcare for citizens and residents and expand the tourism portfolio.

Waters Anchor Medical Institute will be a 76,000 square feet medical facility that will focus specifically on spine, hip and knee, sports medicine, orthopedics, plastic surgery, health and wellness services, executive health, women’s wellness and regenerative medicine. The facility will also include a full diagnostic suite, and a 4000 square foot physical rehabilitation and sports performance space and a nutritional and integrative health programme.

The facility is slated to begin in 2019 and construction is expected to continue for a period of 18 –24 months. It is projected that the facility will cater to approximately 2000 surgical procedures and about 1000 out-patient visits. It will be outfitted with eight in-patient rooms and four operating rooms. The facility will be open to locals as well as the regional and international population.

Caribbean Healthcare Partners who is leading the initiative is a private healthcare development company with offices in the Caribbean that bring together a distinguished healthcare management team and highly regarded clinical practitioners.

Managing Member, Denzil Crooke, said that they are on the verge of launching a USD$ 60 million facility that will link with the synergies offered by Christophe Harbor.

He said that the proposal was presented to the Cabinet and garnered full support in receiving approval for the build out of the facility.

“We first approached the government about four years ago with a total and complete business. We interacted with the Ministry of Health and this proposal was subsequently presented to Cabinet and within six months, the initial approval for the project was had,” he said.
