On Tuesday, 26th May, 2020, His Excellency The Governor-General Sir S. W. Tapley Seaton GCMG, CVO, QC, JP, LL.D. issued a Proclamation designating Sunday 31 st May, 2020 as Centenarians Day. For the past few years, the 31 st May has been designated as a Day to honour the Centenarians in the Federation.
A present, we have 3 Centenarians in St. Kitts, Mrs. Una Duporte, Mrs. Bridget Brazier and, our most recent celebrant, Mr. Vernon Connor. In Nevis there are 2 Centenarians Ms. Mary Browne and Ms. Eliza Liburd-Jeffers.
The purpose of Centenarians Day is to pay tribute as a Nation to these eminent citizens whose worthy contributions we need to celebrate and to recognize their part in national development which we achieved by dint of their dedicated work and sacrifice.
On this occasion, we also celebrate the lives of all our senior citizens who contribute so meaningfully to our lives.
A Happy Centenarians Day to all of our Centenarians. St. Kitts and Nevis is proud of you and records our thanks for your contribution.
