Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 02, 2023 (SKNIS): In a significant move to foster intergenerational harmony, the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Ageing and Disabilities held the ‘Building Resilience Across Generations Forum’ on Monday, October 02, 2023, at the East Basseterre Community Center. The primary objective of this forum was to equip seniors for a contented retirement journey.

Underscoring the importance of nurturing harmonious bonds across age groups, the event sought to both solidify intergenerational ties and inspire the younger demographic to proactively envision their retirement years.

The Honourable Isalean Phillip, Minister of Youth Empowerment, Ageing and Disabilities, addressed the attendees, shedding light on the essence of mutual respect and collaboration spanning generations.

“As part of the Month of Older Persons, we have decided to host an informative panel. We are trying to make sure that we build intergenerational bonds by making sure that you can benefit from the information for resiliency and planning as you also age, although you may be at a different stage in life,” said Minister Phillip.

She stressed the pivotal role every age bracket plays in our society, asserting that a future filled with promise is achievable through shared understanding, mutual respect, and collective experiences.

Minister Phillip urged participants to actively engage in the discussions, posing their queries for their betterment. She expressed her optimism that the sessions would be both engaging and enlightening for all.

The forum showcased interactive sessions, workshops, and panel discussions focusing on the importance of understanding, collaboration, and preparation for the years to come. Attendees were given a platform to share their experiences, challenges, and aspirations, fostering a sense of community and mutual respect.

The Building Resilience Across Generations Forum is a testament to the ministry’s unwavering commitment to creating an inclusive society where every individual, irrespective of age, is valued, understood, and prepared for the challenges and joys of life.
