The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Senior Veterinary Officer to join our team. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the health and welfare of animals in our beautiful twin-island nation.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and guidance in the development and implementation of veterinary policies and programs.
- Oversee the inspection, diagnosis, and treatment of animals to ensure compliance with animal health standards and regulations.
- Conduct research and analysis to identify emerging issues and trends in veterinary medicine.
- Collaborate with local and regional stakeholders to promote animal health and welfare initiatives.
- Supervise and mentor junior veterinary staff.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent from an accredited institution.
- At least five years of professional experience working as a veterinarian.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary medicine, animal husbandry, and public health principles.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Registration or eligibility for registration with the Veterinary Authority of St. Kitts and Nevis.
