Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 14, 2023 (SKNIS): Chairman of InterCaribbean Airways, Lyndon Gardiner, thanked the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis for finding solutions to regional travel by agreeing to the new partnership in increasing airlift at the Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw (RLB) International Airport in Basseterre.
In his speech at the welcome ceremony for the inaugural flight of InterCaribbean Airways to St. Kitts on March 12, Mr. Gardiner said “Today is a momentous occasion in aviation for the Eastern Caribbean.”
“I especially thank the Prime Minister, the Honourable Dr. Terrance Drew, and his vision of pushing forward to find solutions for reliable, more efficient regional travel, and working with the Government through Minister Henderson and the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, and the efforts of CEO Tommy Thompson who has kept the fire under me insisting that St. Kitts is added to our route map,” Mr. Thompson said. “Today, we are delivering on that promise to and from this twin-island Federation.”
Mr. Gardiner also took the time to recognize the Prime Minister of Barbados, the Honourable Mia Mottley and Barbados’ tourism ministry for creating an avenue whereby his company can contribute to airlift in the region by being the host country from which InterCaribbean Airways launched its Eastern Caribbean operations.
“Though not new to the OECS and these Lesser Antilles, we see our launch and growth in St., Kitts and Nevis today and by extension the Eastern Caribbean as somewhat of a homecoming.”
“Indeed, we are truly a homegrown operation and ours is a refined, renewed and collaborative expansion to help fill the existing gaps; to help fill the interconnectivity in the region, our goal is to provide safe, reliable, reasonable and comfortable travel options for customers while actively expanding our fleet and flight schedules to even more service,” said Mr. Gardiner.
